What are Nitinol Shape Memory Bars?
Nitinol Shape Memory Bar has equal amounts of both nickel and titanium elements. Their properties are superelastic and unique from other alloys. Their easy assimilation and fitting into the human body make them perfect for surgical operations and implants. Nitinol Shape Memory Bar does not cause infection within the body. They do not tend to rot when exposed to blood. This peculiar aspect of these Bar makes them the best-selling product of Lint Steels. The nickel content in Nitinol Shape memory Bar makes them sturdy and strong. The titanium content makes them durable and formable.
Nitinol Shape Memory Bars have several advantages over Nitinol Superelastic Bars. Its ability to keep its shape under extreme temperatures and pressures is one of its primary attributes. Nitinol comes in many different forms, including bar, sheet, and foil. Generally, it is made up of 50% nickel and 50% titanium. However, there can be slight variations in the ratio of nickel and titanium, which can affect the alloy’s temperature.
What is Nitinol?
Nitinol is a shape memory metal that can be bent into a variety of shapes. As long as the temperature of the material is not too high, it will retain its original shape. It can be bent into a variety of shapes and can be shaped at a high rate of strain.
The superelasticity and shape memory properties of Nitinol make it ideal for applications that require large deformations. The alloy can be deformed up to 30 times its original shape, then spring back to its original shape after it is relieved of external forces. This unique material has numerous uses in manufacturing and is extremely durable.
The unique properties of Nitinol are the result of the process of phase transformation in the material’s crystal structure. As the temperature changes, Nitinol transitions between two crystal forms: austenite and martensite. This latter form is stronger and can be formed at higher temperatures. When stress is applied to the material, the mechanical properties are changed.
Another characteristic of Nitinol is that it is difficult to weld. This requires the use of unique manufacturing technologies. In addition to laser welding, nitinol is also possible to be welded with stainless steel wires. Laser welding has also been successfully used to join two NiTi tubes.
Nitinol is also an excellent choice for medical devices. Its biocompatibility makes it a valuable material for bone plates and other medical devices. It also helps keep bones in place when it is time for rehabilitation.
